Southmountain Children and Family Services is seeking qualified candidates to join its Foster Care Community as “professional parents” in Nebo, North Carolina.

“Professional parents” are carefully selected employees who care for foster children in one of the eight, six bedroom, three bathroom houses in our unique community. The foster community is just like a traditional neighborhood, except better! There's a gymnasium to exercise, play a game of pick-up, or take a dip in the indoor pool. The 150-acre property is home to miles of trails, an alpine climbing tower, and a disc golf course. And a playground, gazebo and picnic area bring the park right to our kids!

Our “professional parents” don’t necessarily have biological children of their own, but ideally, they are married, college-educated couples who love helping children, have a positive attitude and are excited to provide direct care for the children in our community. Parents should be energetic and open to learning parenting techniques to meet the needs of the children in their care as well as a willingness to implement the CARE Model .

This opportunity is a full-time position with a competitive salary and full benefits (annuity plan, health/dental/vision insurances).

The agency will support your foster-care work through on-campus clinicians (utilizing Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), weekly in-service training, recreation staff and facilities, social worker/case management, and a part-time medical provider.
