Robin Spicer
Robin Spicer was born and raised in Caldwell County and received her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1985. A licensed psychological associate, licensed clinical mental health counselor, and qualified supervisor, Robin has over 34 years of experience in providing psychological assessment and psychotherapy to children and adults in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings, including Broughton Hospital, Duke Medical Center, multiple school systems and mental health centers, and in her private practice, “Renewing the Mind.”
Since 2011, Robin has been specializing in trauma-informed assessment and the delivery of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to children and adolescents who have experienced sexual abuse, severe physical abuse and/or other significant traumas. She maintains active memberships in psychological organizations as well as continuing education. In 2013, Robin was appointed to 2 consecutive 3- year terms to the North Carolina Commission for MH, DD, and SA Services.
Robin joined the Southmountain family in 2017 as a clinician, moved into the role of clinical supervisor in 2019 and has served as the organization’s clinical director since 2022. Robin enjoys teaching and supporting associate and other clinicians in their provision of TF-CBT and Problematic Sexual Behavior Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT). She continues to coordinate both the school-age and adolescent PSB-CBT programs.
Robin is married, has two adult children, and one granddaughter. Robin’s focus is her faith and family and enjoys horseback riding, hiking, and cooking.
